There is no model called "sketch to video." What exists is image-to-video, and a sketch is an image — so the drawing goes in the same slot a photo would, and ten models here accept it.

- Upload the sketch as the image input. Same field a photograph would go in.
- Write the prompt for what the lines do not say — material, colour, lighting, and the motion you want. This is the step that decides the result.

The reason there is no dedicated sketch model is that a sketch does not need one. The image encoder does not care whether the pixels came from a camera or a pen; it cares how much information they carry. Which leads to the real constraint.
Why a sketch is harder than a photo
A photograph hands the model texture, lighting direction, depth cues, and material properties in every pixel. A sketch hands it edges and white space.
Everything the photo would have supplied, the model now has to invent — and it will invent something, whether or not it matches what you had in mind. That is not a flaw in the model; it is the arithmetic of how much you gave it.
Two consequences worth planning around:
- The prompt carries far more weight with a sketch. With a photo you can write "make it move." With a sketch you are also specifying what it is made of, what colour it is, where the light comes from, and what the background is.
- Line weight and contrast matter. Clean dark lines on a white background read more reliably than faint pencil, and a scan beats a photo of paper at an angle.
We have not benchmarked sketch input against photo input and are not going to publish a success rate we did not measure. What we can state is the mechanism and the cost of finding out.

Making the prompt do the sketch's work
Since a sketch is short on information, the prompt is where you put it back. A useful order:
- What it is made of. "Painted wood", "brushed steel", "soft cotton" — material implies texture, which the lines do not.
- Colour, unless the drawing is already coloured.
- Lighting. Direction and quality: "late afternoon sun from the left", "flat studio light".
- The motion. What moves, how fast, and whether the camera moves too.
- The background, if the drawing has none — otherwise the model picks one.
A sketch plus "make it move" will produce a video. The same sketch plus those five specifics produces something closer to what you drew it for.
When a sketch is the wrong starting point
Being honest about the boundary saves credits:
- If you have a photo of the same subject, use the photo. More information in, more predictable out.
- If the sketch is a rough thumbnail, generate a still image from it first and animate that. Two cheap steps beat one expensive miss.
- If you want a specific character to recur across shots, one sketch will not hold identity between generations. That is what Kling 3.0 Omni's reference images are for.
