Kuaishou announced Kling 4.0 on September 28, 2026. The lighter Flash version went live the same day for Ultra Yearly subscribers only. The full model is scheduled for October 2026, with no exact day announced and no public API pricing yet.

The headline upgrade is length: 30-second clips in a single generation, double the 15-second ceiling of Kling 3.0. Below: the exact release timeline, who can use the new model today, the confirmed specs (and which ones are still "coming soon"), and how to start generating without an annual plan.

Is Kling 4.0 out yet?
Yes for Flash, not yet for the full model.

| Release | Date | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Announcement | September 28, 2026 | — |
| Flash | September 28, 2026 | Kling Ultra Yearly subscribers only |
| Full model | October 2026 (exact day not announced) | Not yet available |
| API | Not announced | API pricing not published |
If you are on a monthly Kling plan or any tier below Ultra Yearly, Kling 4.0 is not available to you on Kling's own app yet. Everyone else waits for the October rollout, and Kuaishou has not said whether free accounts get access on day one.
Kling 4.0 release date: how it fits the cadence
| Version | Released | Notable step |
|---|---|---|
| Kling 1.0 | June 2024 | First public model |
| Kling 2.0 | April 2025 | Major quality leap |
| Kling 2.1 | May 2025 | Quality modes |
| Kling 2.5 Turbo | September 2025 | ~30% cheaper |
| Kling O1 | December 2025 | Unified multimodal tool |
| Kling 2.6 | December 2025 | Native audio, cinematic motion |
| Kling 3.0 | February 2026 | Native 4K, 60fps, 15s, multi-shot |
| Kling 4.0 | Sept 28, 2026 (Flash) · October 2026 (full) | 30s single clips, 15 references, 10 keyframes |
The gap from 3.0 to this release was about eight months — shorter than the ten months between 2.0 and 3.0. The rollout also repeats a pattern Kling has used before: Ultra subscribers first, everyone else later. That pattern matters if you are deciding whether to upgrade now: past releases reached lower tiers within weeks, not months.
What's new in Kling 4.0

Kling AI's official Kling 4.0 announcement, September 28, 2026.
Live at launch
- 30-second clips in one pass — double the previous 15 seconds, with long takes and continuous narrative inside one clip.
- Up to 15 multimodal references per task — up to 10 images, 5 video clips, and 7 subjects, so characters, motion, camera work, and sound follow your material.
- Up to 10 keyframes to pin character states, scene changes, and plot beats.
- 8,000-token prompts, plus automatic expansion of short prompts.
- Video editing — add, change, or remove subjects and backgrounds; adjust style, weather, color, material, shot size, or viewpoint.
- Remake mode — analyzes the shot language and pacing of a reference video and builds a new commercial clip on that structure (social, product ads, fashion and beauty, electronics).
- 21:9 ultra-wide, dual-channel stereo audio, and tighter lip sync.
- Speech in 9 languages — Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, and Hindi, plus accents and Chinese dialects such as Cantonese.
- On-screen text — multilingual text, emoji, and logos rendered inside the video.
- More stable fast motion, tracking shots, and orbiting camera moves.

Listed as "coming soon"
- 4K and 1080p in 10-bit HDR.
- Video extension — continuing a clip several times to about 2 minutes.
What Flash is
Flash is the faster, lower-cost version of the model, built for high-volume creation. Kling also redesigned its creation page: image, video, and audio references share one input box, with a timeline for preview and editing and a canvas workspace with an agent assistant.

The practical difference is control and length. If your work is 5–15 second social clips, Kling 3.0 already covers it. If you need one continuous 30-second shot, many reference images in a single task, or keyframed story beats, Kling 4.0 is the upgrade to wait for.

Will Kling 4.0 be free?
Kuaishou has not published pricing for free users. At launch, Flash access requires an Ultra Yearly plan — Kling's top annual tier — so there is no free path to Kling 4.0 on Kling's own app today. API pricing has not been published either, which means third-party tools cannot offer the new model yet.
What you can use right now
You don't need an Ultra Yearly plan or a waitlist to make 4K AI video with native audio today.
On kling4.co, the Kling 4.0 tier is our flagship generation tier — native 4K, native audio, and multi-shot sequences. It runs on the Kling models available through API today; Kuaishou's newly announced model has no public API yet. New accounts get free starter credits that cover a first clip on the Lite tier, no card needed.
- Kling 4.0 tier — Lite (free to start), Fast, Standard, Pro, and 4K.
- Kling 3.0 — native 4K, native audio, up to 15s, multi-shot.
- Kling 3.0 Omni — reference-driven generation and editing.
Every generation shows the exact credit cost before you render, and failed generations are not charged. Compare pricing or open the AI video generator.
